lk2 two player mode menu background art.png The Transform Type is a card type introduced in Lost Kingdoms II. A Red Fairy in the Upper Chambers refers to Transform type cards as "Transformers".

By using a Transform type card, Tara can change shape into the monster it depicts until the lifespan of the card runs out or it looses all of its Hit Points. Damage taken by Tara while using a Transform type card will cause both her and the card she uses to lose Hit Points, and every skill she uses while taking the form of one will lessen the time she can stay transformed.

All Transform type cards can also be powered up with Magic Boosters, but only after all the Magic Boosters have been activated by interacting with the switch in Ruldo Forest.

Transform Sub-Types

There are three sub-types of Transform cards. The first are the Power Transformers, the second are Jumpers, and the third are Fliers.

Power Transformers

Power Transformers are Transform type cards that specialize in destroying obstacles when powered up with a Magic Booster. However, which obstacles can be broken varies by the card being used, such as the frozen waterfall in Obenoix Gorge that can only be broken by using a Stone Golem card. Using Magic Boosters on any Power Transformers will also allow Tara to damage enemies just by touching them.

Jumpers

Jumpers are Transform type cards that specialize in jumping over obstacles. There are two types of Jumpers: those that have a high Jump, like the Hell Hound, and those who have a long Jump, like the Cerberus. Those who have a high jump are better suited for jumping up ledges, while those with long jumps can cross long gaps more easily. By using either type of Jumper with a Magic Booster, both can traverse tall ledges.

Fliers

Fliers are Transform type cards that specialize in flying over areas that can't be traversed on foot or with other Transform type cards. Fliers are much better suited for crossing long gaps than Jumper type cards. All Fliers besides the Baba Yaga can damage enemies just by touching them when powered up with a Magic Booster.

Trivia

  • In Lost Kingdoms, the Birdman was a Summons type card. It was changed to a flying Transform type in the Lost Kingdoms II.
  • In Lost Kingdoms, the Unicorn was a Summons type card. It was changed to a jumping Transform type card in Lost Kingdoms II.
  • In Lost Kingdoms II, falling into a body of water, a chasm, or a pool of magma when using either a jumping or flying Transform type card will make Tara change back into herself and teleport her back onto solid ground. In the US version, falling when using either Jumpers or Fliers will make Tara appear where she originally was before jumping or flying. In RUNE II, the Japanese version, the location Tara teleports to when using Fliers is the same, but falling as a Jumper will bring her to the entrance of the level instead.
  • The Transform type is the only card type not used by enemy Runestone Masters in Lost Kingdoms II.
