Catoblepae can be found as enemies in the Yyprek Mines and in the Temple of Amentankh.

Appearance

The Catoblepas is a cyclopean brown cow creature with short legs and a very long neck. In Lost Kingdoms, it has three-toed feet and a knobby back. In Lost Kingdoms II, it has hooves (its card art still depicts it with three toes, however) and a smoother back.

Obtainability

  • By capturing one in the Yyprek Mines.
  • By choosing its card in the Level Bonus for the Yyprek Mines. Up to three Catoblepas cards can be chosen in this Level Bonus.
  • By transforming a Man Trap card with 3000 EXP.
  • By transforming a Rheebus card with 1400 EXP.
  • By opening a chest in a row of two chests behind a house and in front of a fenced off higher area with a well in Lumsted. This card is in the left chest.
  • By opening a chest in a row of three chests past the Dragon's Mouth in Broch Black. This card is in the chest is the farthest from the Dragon's Mouth.
  • By purchasing one from the Apothecary for 1200G. Available for purchase at three points: after completing the Yyprek Mines until before completing both the Castle of Wyht and Lumsted, after completing Grenfoel Church until completing both the Coliseum and Lake Bestriel or Mt. Jarndunn, and after beating the game.
  • By choosing its card in the Level Bonus for the Temple of Amentankh. Up to three Catoblepas cards can be chosen in this Level Bonus.
  • By copying one using 2000 EXP.

  • By purchasing one from a Card Shop with 900G. Available in Shop 2 at the Kadishu Card Shop and the postgame inventories of both Card Shops.
  • By copying one using 17500 EXP
