Besides being the tomb of an ancient Pharaoh, it is also the location where the Great Turtle is found.

The Great Turtle fights alongside two Sphinx, making it the only one of the Four Sacred Beasts to fight the player with allies. However it will not appear til the player has found the treasure of the temple, a Mummy card.

The Temple of Amentankh is accessed from Ruh-Arok Temple via the Earth Door.

Summary

Upon gathering enough Earth attribute cards, Princess Katia opened the Earth Door of Ruh-Arok Temple. This took her to the Temple of Amentankh, the home of the Great Turtle, one of the Four Sacred Beasts and the Lord of all Earth creatures. There she met a Red Fairy at the entrance who told her of how to find the turtle. She needed to find the treasure hidden in the farthest room.

The Temple of Amentankh was like a maze, as its rooms mostly looked the same. Eventually she found the Necklace of the Pharaoh in a chest. She then traveled farther on and found a lore tablet describing the last part of a story on the origins of the world.

Each chieftain swore to protect the Runestone he received.  Each was promised prosperity in return. The god left the Land and became light, shielding each land from the other. As time passed, the Little Ones forgot about the Other Land, and remembered only their own continent."
– A lore tablet, The Temple of Amentankh.

Past the room with the tablet was a bust of a pharaoh next to a set of sealed stone doors. Katia placed the necklace on the bust's neck and the way to the next room opened. Inside this room was a sarcophagus, and inside this was a Mummy card, the treasure of the temple.

Finding the treasure of the Temple of Amentankh caused stone doors to move, which blocked off certain paths and opened others. Despite having to navigate a different path, Katia managed to return to the entrance of the temple where the Great Turtle was waiting with its two Sphinx servants. She battled with them all and won, and in the process acquired the help of the Great Turtle in the form of its card.

Layout

The Temple of Amentankh is a maze-like level composed mostly of square rooms. Certain paths are closed off by stone doors. These closed paths will open once the Mummy card is taken from the sarcophagus, but some other paths and the chests found in small alcoves will be blocked off afterwards.

As this level is composed of nearly identical rooms, it is easy to get lost. If having trouble navigating this stage, try to avoid moving the camera during battles.

Trivia

  • The Temple of Amentankh is decorated with images of Egyptian gods. Anubis, who resembles a man with the head of a dog, appears as both statues and in wall paintings. Horus, who in this instance appears as a man with the head of a bird, appears only as statues. Paintings of the god Osiris, who is more human in appearance, can also be found on the walls. While Anubis and Osiris do not appear in the series as card monsters, Horus appears as one in Lost Kingdoms II, albeit in an alternate depiction. The card monster is based more on his bird form instead of the form of a bird-headed man.
