Grenfoel Church (Japanese: ランフォール教会, ランフォールきょうかい, Ranfo-ru Kyoukai [lit. "Runfall Church"]) is a location in Lost Kingdoms. It is located within the Kingdom of Wyht. In Lost Kingdoms II, Grenfoel Church is known as Grenfoel Cathedral.
Appearance
The Grenfoel Church is very dark and appears to have no internal lighting. All of the lighting coming into the church comes through its stained glass windows found throughout the building.
Summary

Area Progression

Candlesticks
In order for Katia to progress through the area, she will need to collect 4 candlesticks. Katia will need to collect a blue, yellow, red, and green candle. The candles are placed throughout the church inside of chests. Since the area is quite small, finding the candles is relatively easy. After finding the candles, Katia will need to place each candle on their respective stand to open a hidden door into the library area. The stands are located north from the starting point.
Pipe Organ (optional)
Down the western hall of the church, a pipe organ connected to the wall can be seen beside a red chest. A red fairy in the same hall will tell Katia that if she plays a secret tune, a hidden door will open.
– Red Fairy, Grenfoel Church
Katia will need to find some old sheet music in order to play the organ. The sheet music can be found in a chest down the eastern hallway of the church. Katia will need to trigger a random encounter so she can break the barrier around the chest in order to take what is inside. Once she takes the sheet music, she can then play the organ. Playing the pipe organ will open a hidden room containing some loot.
Library Bookshelves (optional)
Before collecting the Runestone of Wyht in the church library, Katia can interact with the bookshelves found there. This will reveal some of the lore of Lost Kingdoms.
In-game Text
– First bookshelf to the left, Grenfoel Church
"Long ago, an evil spirit came into the world. He hated everything good and beautiful. He created a multitude of misshapen creatures to do his bidding. The evil spirit and his abominations brought about endless war and suffering to Argwyll."
– The second bookshelf to the left, Grenfoel Church
"The evil spirit's deeds angered the God. The God of Harmony trapped the Evil Spirit and sealed his power into five stones. These five stones are known as the Runestones of Power."
– Third Bookshelf to the left, Grenfoel Church
"Having captured the evil spirit's power, the God called five humans into his presence, and spoke thus: 'From this day fourth, each of you is to be a king of his own nation. In return for your crown, you will swear a sacred oath to protect these Runestones. If these five Runestones should ever be joined, the Evil Spirit will return to lay waste to your lands.'"
– Fourth bookshelf to the left, Grenfoel Church
"Thus were the Five Kingdoms of Alanjeh, Kendarie, Grayl, Bhashea, and Wyht created. The Five Kings pledged never to interfere with their neighbors. Peace returned to Argwyll."
– Fifth bookshelf to the left, Grenfoel Church
"Having handed down the Runestones, the God of Harmony changed into human form, to live among us. Who can say what form the Guardian has taken?"
– Sixth bookshelf to the left, Grenfoel Church
"Persons of royal blood, when in possession of a Runestone, can control the so-called 'monsters'. These monsters are believed to have been created long ago by the Evil Spirit to be his slaves. It is likely they have been brought back to life by the power of the Runestones."
– First bookshelf to the right, Grenfoel Church
"The nature of the Black Fog is not yet understood. No one has entered the fog and returned alive. It seems that the monsters in the Black Fog are similar to those controlled by the Runestones. One possibility is that there is a Runestone bearer within the fog, controlling the fog monsters. If this is in fact true, it would seem there is a sixth Runestone in addition to the five we know of."
– Second bookshelf to the right, Grenfoel Church
"One of the Five Kingdoms, Bhashea, has been completely overrun by the Black fog. Due to the danger involved, it was not possible to conduct a first-hand investigation. Refugees reported seeing a woman in black clothing take part in the assault in Bhashea. The whereabouts of the Bhashea Runestone are unknown at this time. We believe the Runestone has been lost, or is in the possession of the above-mentioned woman."
– Third bookshelf to the right, Grenfoel Church
"According to legend, the Evil Spirit was imprisoned in the Temple of Ruh-Arok, near Mt. Jarndunn. It is true that a high level of spiritual energy can be detected emanating from the temple. The lava flows blocking the path prevented a thorough investigation of the temple."
– Fourth bookshelf to the right, Grenfoel Church
"The God of Harmony continues to watch over the land of Argwyll. There are many theories on what appearance the God of Harmony has taken. One of the more unique theories holds that the God of Harmony has taken on the shape of an old crone."
– Fifth bookshelf to the right, Grenfoel Church
"According to certain sacrilegious doctrines, two other deities exist, in addition to our god. According to this theory, there was a bitter struggle between the God of Creation and the God of Destruction. The conflict ended when the two gods imprisoned each other on separate continents. The source is dubious, but some aspects of the tale agree with the True Teachings. Further study is recommended."
