{{Card_Template}}The Night Mare (Japanese: ナイトメア, Night Mare) is a Neutral attribute creature and an Independent type card introduced in Lost Kingdoms.

Night Mares can be found as enemies in Grenfoel Church.

Appearance

The Night Mare is a creature resembling an undead horse in heavy armor. Its eyes glow green, its skull, tailbones, rib cage and lower leg bones are bleached white. What flesh remains on its body is covered in black fur, with a large tuft of it growing from the middle of its back. Its armor is purple, trimmed with silver, and decorated with both silver and glowing blue markings.

Obtainability

  • By opening a chest in Broch Black. Found in the back of the room on the right side before the area with the Dragon's Mouth. This card is in the chest to the right.
  • By capturing one while fighting Thalnos the Enchanter in Broch Black
  • By copying one using 1500 EXP

Strategies

The Night Mare shoots a green fog that hurts all enemies in front of itself. The Night Mare can do moderate damage but has extremely bad navigation skill. This makes the Night Mare overall easy to fight and tedious to use.

{{Card_Template}}The Night Mare (Japanese: ナイトメア, Night Mare) returns in Lost Kingdoms II. It retains both the Neutral attribute creature and the Independent type in the US and PAL versions, but its type was changed to Helper in RUNE II, the Japanese version.

Night Mares can be found as enemies in Level 5 of the Proving Grounds.

Its armor is purple, trimmed with silver, and decorated with both silver and glowing blue markings.

Obtainability

  • By opening a chest in Ruldo Forest. Found on the bank on other side of a pond. Requires either a long-jumping or flying Transform type card to reach. If a Jumper is used, Tara will not be able to jump back, so the mission will have to be aborted to leave the level.
  • By opening a chest at the Plains of Rowahl, but only in the US and PAL versions. Found in the right chest behind the Stranger. This card was replaced with 100 Magic Stones in RUNE II, the Japanese version.
  • By purchasing one at a Card Shop for 1800G. Available at the Cathedral Card Shop and the post game inventories of both Card Shops.
  • By capturing one in Level 5 of the Proving Grounds
  • By choosing one in the Level Bonus for Level 5 of the Proving Grounds. Only 1 Night Mare card is available. This Level Bonus can be accessed whenever the level is cleared with at least 1 rating star.
  • By importing cards from a Lost Kingdoms save file after clearing Sacred Battle Arena 2. The option to do this can only be taken once.
  • By copying one using 13000 EXP

As a Card

?The Night Mare functions differently as a card in RUNE II, the Japanese version. Instead of attacking every now and then like it does in the US and PAL versions, It won't attack at all unless the button used to summon it has been pressed. Once this happens, the Night Mare will send out a noxious green cloud that causes a larger amount of damage that the US and PAL versions, but it also causes the Night Mare to fade away. Additionally, since the Night Mare was changed from an Independent type to a Helper in RUNE II, it can no longer have its attack power boosted by the Z-Effect.
