Overview
The Sacred Covenant is an agreement that was signed by each king of Five Kingdoms of Argwyll hundreds of years prior to the events of Lost Kingdoms. The rules of the covenant were set forth by the "Great One" (God of Harmony) with the intent of ensuring peace and prosperity in the world.

Rules and Purpose
The rules of the sacred covenant were told to each Kingdom by the God of Harmony. The covenant specified that each Kingdom in Argwyll would be tasked with protecting their Runestone forever. All of the five kings who signed the covenant were to ensure that they and their heirs were directly involved in the guarding of their respective Runestone.
The purpose of the covenant was to ensure peace throughout the world and prevent wars from occurring. The covenant specifies that as long as the kingdoms fulfill their duty, they shall be at peace.
Alanjeh Castle Scripture
During the beginning of Lost Kingdoms, the player will need to venture into a room within Alanjeh Castle to retrieve the Alanjian Runestone. In this room, on the walls were the entrance door is, scripture about the covenant can be read by the player.

– Right wall scripture, Runestone room, Alanjeh Castle
Lost Kingdoms
The events of the first game occur after The Enchanter defies the Sacred Covenant by engaging in the destruction of other kingdoms and robbery of their Runestones, along with the reawakening of the God of Destruction.
Lost Kingdoms II
During lost Kingdoms II, all of the events that occur take place within the Kingdom of Argwyll. The Kingdom of Argwyll being one single unified kingdom containing all of the previous Five Kingdoms. It was founded after the events of the first game.
Having the kingdoms unified and interacting with each other, in theory, defies the sacred covenant, but it is possible that unification could have been the wish of the God of Harmony, since the split that separated the two continents caused by the God of Harmony had disappeared after Katia's defeat of the God of Destruction.
