map manual.jpgArgwyll (Japanese: アーガイル, Argyle) is the land in which the events of Lost Kingdoms and Lost Kingdoms II unfold.

Argwyll is home to the Five Kingdoms: Alanjeh, Bhashea, Kendaria, Wyht, and Grayl.

Summary

During the God of Destruction and God of Creation's struggle for control over the Five Kingdoms of Argwyll, the God of Harmony split the land into two continents, scattering Runestones over both continents, as said in the Argwyllian Myths. This is visible in the Lost Kingdoms map.

The left continent is known as Argwyll, but the name of the right continent is unknown. Since Argwyll is home to the Five Kingdoms, none of which being on the right continent, It is most likely that when Argwyll is referenced, it is solely referencing the left continent during the events of the first game. Lost Kingdoms

argwyll with icons.png All of the events that had taken place within the first game occur within Argwyll. There is mention of another world, but the word "world" most likely means something similar to a continent in the context of the game, as the word "continent" and "world" are used interchangeably in reference to the same location. Broch Black is the only location visibly separated from the rest of the continent of Argwyll. It is also the only location throughout both games to be visibly so.

Lost Kingdoms II

In Lost Kingdoms II, the divide within the land that appeared in the first game is not visible in any of the game's maps; this is because the divide had been mended after the defeat of the God of Destruction in the first game. The Five Kingdoms are of Argwyll had joined together after Katia's defeat of the God of Destruction to form one single kingdom: the Kingdom of Argwyll.

Second Continent

One of the characters in Lost Kingdoms, Helena, in the Coliseum told Katia of 5 other Runestones belonging to other kingdoms in the land where she was from, but that they were all taken by Thalnos the Enchanter. Helena also expressed that she too was a princess, but on the other continent. {| class="quote" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" style="border:1px solid white; background:#f8e9ae; tcolor:black; -moz-border-radius:7px; padding:0; margin:.5em 1em .5em 1em; width:auto" |style=color:#000; text-align:left;padding:0 10px;"| "Where I come from... the other continent... I was a Princess, like you..."
– Helena
A Red Fairy in Bernden Field told Katia that it left a place that also had 5 kingdoms, but that the enchanter had destroyed all of them. {| class="quote" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" style="border:1px solid white; background:#f8e9ae; tcolor:black; -moz-border-radius:7px; padding:0; margin:.5em 1em .5em 1em; width:auto" |style=color:#000; text-align:left;padding:0 10px;"| "There are five kingdoms in this world, too. Don't you think that's interesting? The place I just came back from had five kingdoms as well... But the Enchanter destroyed all of them..."
– Red Fairy, Bernden Field
The Argwyllian Myths found in Grenfoel Cathedral in Lost Kingdoms II specify that the Gods had originally created one continent and that it was later split in two by the God of Harmony. The scrolls also mention that the God of Harmony spread the Runestones across both continents, never specifying the number exactly. Since five Runestones exist in Argwyll, the left continent, but Runestones were spread across both, Helena is most likely a princess of one of the kingdoms in the right continent.

Any information on the other 4 Kingdoms is unknown.

Theories

  • Thalnos also had his castle, Broch Black, across the divide in the right continent. In addition, the title "Enchanter" Thalnos carried was one inherited by a King as described by a scroll Gurd had read. It would be possible that Broch Black was a castle to a Kingdom in which he was king of in the right continent.

Trivia

  • Argwyll may be based off of a real world location called Argyll, a historic county in western Scotland.
