The Body of the God is the corpse of the God of Harmony spoken of in legend. It is bigger than some buildings. When Tara stood beside the being on a ledge in the Runestone Caverns, she only comes to its head.

Summary

Centuries ago, the God of Harmony sealed the Gods of Destruction and Creation into Runestones. This act caused the God to sacrifice itself; unfortunately, it's body was left behind as described in the Argwyllian Myths. Though it retains some of the God's former power, the Body is a walking corpse, driven only by an insatiable need to suck out the soul of any being that approaches it.

The Corpse is somehow responsible for the creation of the Runestones wielded by other Runestone Masters in the second game. Additionally, it is the creator of the pink balls of light floating around the Runestone Caverns; these are likely souls or at least energy beings capable of stealing souls from a body.

Later in the game, the Body of the God is seen attacking the Palace. The current Queen attempts to destroy it with Tara's Runestone, but her inability to control stronger monsters means she is quickly defeated.

The Corpse is later fought as the final boss, introducing itself as The God of Harmony.

This is one of the few times a monster has been fought against by the player, but is unable to be wielded as a card. This contrasts the God of Creation (seen in Card form but never used) and the God of Destruction (sealed in a card to be used by the player) from the previous game.

Boss

Runestone Caverns

The Body of the God will appear as a boss at the end of the Lower Chambers of the Runestone Caverns. Tara will be confronted by Duke Leod VIII of Kendaria about her Runestone near the end of the area. Leod VIII is in search of Tara's Runestone since it is the only true Runestone known in Argwyll. Leod VIII wants to get ahold of Tara's Runestone personally as it will give him sufficient power to further push his rebellion against the Kingdom of Argwyll.

Attacking this boss can be slightly difficult if incorrect cards are used. It is easy for certain cards to completely miss the boss and not land a hit. Using cards that have a large range is recommended.

Alanjeh Castle

The Body of the God will return once again as the final boss in the Lost Kingdoms II story. At the top of Alanjeh Castle (Royal Tower, Upper), Tara will face off against the being. The Body of the God will have visibly changed compared to what it looked like in the Runestone Caverns.

Trivia

  • In Japan, most monsters in the Lost Kingdoms series are either referred to as creatures (クリーチャー), or "Igyō" (異形), which can be translated as something grotesque, fantastical, or with an unusual appearance. In Gurd's postgame dialogue from RUNE II, the Japanese version of Lost Kingdoms II, she calls the Body of the God a "bakemono" (化け物) instead, which is a type of monster or undead creature that can change into something else.
