The Dao (Japanese: ダオ, Dao) is an Earth attribute creature and a Weapon type card introduced in Lost Kingdoms II.
Daos can be found as enemies in Level 8 of the Proving Grounds.
Appearance
Dao, Efreet, and Marid are palette swaps with different shaped horns.
Obtainability
- By opening a chest at the Plains of Rowahl. Found underneath the giant broken LazerBug 39K. The chest can be opened once the LazerBug 39K is fully destroyed with the working catapult closest to the gate. If the working catapult by the Royal Vault is interacted with before the one by the gate is, the catapult by the gate will be destroyed, so it will become impossible to open the chest.
- By upgrading a Gnome with 12000 EXP
- By capturing one in Level 8 of the Proving Grounds
- By choosing one in the Level Bonus for Level 8 of the Proving Grounds. Only 1 Dao card is available. This Level Bonus can be accessed whenever the level is cleared with at least 1 rating star.
- By copying one using 15000 EXP

As a Card
In Lost Kingdoms II, the Dao card's attack is difficult to use on most enemies as the boulder shards hit higher up than most cards. However, he can be extremely useful in certain situations, such as when facing an Acid Cloud. The Acid Cloud's hit box is higher up than most monsters, so it can be difficult to defeat. While the Dao card's attack has no elemental advantage over the Acid Cloud, he is one of the few cards that can strike it.
In RUNE II, the Dao's attack is much easier to use. Instead of throwing rocks high up at an opponent at a fixed angle, he launches a slow-moving boulder that home in on enemies and can hit multiple times.
In all versions, a Dao card can also be used in the Djinn and Bear It combo along with one Efreet card and one Marid card.
