As the translation of the Japanese name is unofficial, it may contain errors.lk1 capture throw effect.pngThe Capture Throw (Japanese: キャプチャースロー , Capture Throw) is a gameplay mechanic in Lost Kingdoms. It was replaced with Capture Cards in Lost Kingdoms II.

Mechanics

If Katia uses one of the cards in her hands while holding down the L Button, she can trigger a Capture Throw. The Capture Throw will only do a small amount of damage to opponents normally, but if a monster that can be caught is weak enough, it can be turned into a card. However, Capture Throws cost 1 Magic Stone to use, so if Katia has no Magic Stones, she can't use them at all.

The damage a Capture Throw can do varies per card used. It depends on ...?

In Lost Kingdoms, boss monsters, monsters called forth by Runestone Masters, and monsters that don't have card forms can't be captured. However, a few boss monsters can eventually be caught in later levels where they appear as regular enemies; they just can't be captured as bosses.

Strategies

  • Cards with no offensive abilities normally take longer to copy or transform into other cards than those that can directly attack. However, if these types of cards are used using in Capture Throws on powerful enemies, it will be quicker to farm EXP for them.
  • If an enemy can be caught and is weak enough to capture, using a Capture Throw, preferably with a card that has been mostly used up, is useful for keeping Katia from running out of cards as long as she access to a Deck Point.

Trivia

  • When in fights where the boss battle theme plays in Lost Kingdoms, the main enemy monsters usually can't be captured. However, despite the boss theme playing during the fight with the Lich and Zombie Dragon in Bernden Field, it is possible to capture both.
  • Capture Throws can be used in the Two Player Mode of Lost Kingdoms to damage enemies, but they won't be able to catch anything.
